Vertica Analytic database 3.5
Vertica Systems is pleased to announce the general availability of Release
3.5 of the Vertica Analytic Database. Release 3.5 introduces FlexStoreTM,
a breakthrough in column database architecture as a result of innovative
techniques such as column grouping, intelligent disk utilization, enhanced
query execution engine and faster data loading. Unlike earlier-generation
column databases, Vertica automatically applies a variety of physical
design, database storage and query execution techniques that keep the
database optimized for analytic workloads.
FlexStoreTM is the latest in a long line of
Vertica innovations that improve performance, requiring less hardware and
administrative overhead and support a broader range of applications, even
those considered a weakness of first-generation column databases.
Introducing Map Reduce support: Continuing its path of
technology innovation, Release 3.5 of Vertica delivers a specialized
adapter for distributed streaming between Hadoop and Vertica. As a result,
developers can leverage the high performance combination of distributed
database and map reduce processing power for specialized analytics and
transformations from multiple data sources or Vertica-to-Vertica instances.
Release 3.5 also delivers improved functionality in the
areas of Database Management, Interoperability, Integration, Manageability
and Ease of Use.
